A Harmony for Steve by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
While reading this book the first thing that came to mind was a scripture. That scripture, in my opinion, sums up this whole entire book. That scripture is Ephesians 6: 12 " For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."(KJV). Hallee manifests spiritual warfare into flesh. We see Harmony and Steve have to battle against the spiritual wickedness which is a battle for the ages. Harmony is a Christian artist who crosses over into the Pop. Her family worries that the world will influence her but she stands firm in her belief that God is leading her to sing the songs she sings in the venues she sings them. Steve is a rockstar and the lead singer of a group whose name literally means Hell. You would think they would never cross paths, however, at a benefit concert in California they literally bump into each other backstage. This starts a j...

A Carol for Kent by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
Where do I begin? This 3rd book in the Song of Suspense series has taken me on a whirlwind of emotions almost like I am on a never ending roller coaster ride with all the twist and turns! I thought I knew what was happening and then at the end I was like "What?! Oh my gosh I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!" The shock of it all!! I have to say I enjoyed this book tremendously and here is why: **Possible Spoilers** In the beginning we learn about Carol and how she has a daughter named Lisa whose father we later find out is a singer. Carol has an interesting relationship with her child's grandparents, who told her years ago that their son did not want anything to do with the child. This is interesting because later on in the book we discover that they lied, and the reason they lied will make you shed a little tear. Carol is an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for the state of Virginia who tries murder cases. She works closely with the police in order to put criminals away. She...

Valor's Vigil by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
This is the 8th and final book the Virtues and Valor series. Although I had a little trouble reading through this book, I did enjoy learning more about the other characters through Valor's point of view and learning more about Valor's family and upbringing.  In this book you get more background on Charlene Radden who we discover is actually married to Leopold Schafer codenamed Valor's father. Their storyline in the prologue was definitely intriguing! Throughout the book you get glimpses of the toll Valor's cover had taken on him. You also see how Valor overcomes those challenges in order to do what needed to be done to assist in ending the war. You also get to know the Virtues better and the men who assisted them during their undercover work. I love how Hallee in the Epilogue gave us a more in depth look at how Temperance was effected during her time as a Prisoner of War. Valor's story put to rest a lot of unanswered questions that may have came to your mind...

Mission of Mercy by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
Book 6 in the Virtues and Valor series chronicles the Journey of Dr. Betty Grimes codenamed Mercy as she becomes a nurse who suffered loss of a loved one that prompted her to do her part to help the war efforts. One-way Mercy worked through her grief was through her work. She truly made a difference looking after he fellow Virtues and Valor making sure they recovered from anything that happened to them during their individual missions. She also made a point to take notes in her mind of how much nurses are undervalued and to hopefully do a book that showcase to other doctors why nurses are important. Overall, after reading Mission of Mercy I got a unique perspective of why Medical personnel are sometimes the unsung heroes of a war. I hope you will enjoy reading this installment in the Virtues and Valor series as I did!

Flight of Faith by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
In the 7 th installment of the Virtues and Valor series we see a somewhat conclusion occur, although later the 8 th installment rounds up this series. We are introduced to Helen Mulberry codenamed Faith who is a young American pilot. She has spunk, a kind heart, and a will that is amazing. Through out her story you see her mature and come into her own. She truly has a heart of gold that makes you fall in love with her character.  Just so you are prepared…you will need a pack of tissues at the ready for Chapter 8. It caught me off guard but in away that was truly needed. A lot that happened in the other novellas(1-6) comes full circle. You will cry tears of joy and sadness then tears of joy again! In the end you see everyone come together, you see identities revealed, who each were before the war began and code names given. Overall, you see Faith truly grow over the course of her story from the Texas Tomboy to a woman who decided to listen to God and follow her true calling ...

Grace's Ground War by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
This is the 5th novella in the Virtues and Valor Series. Ruth code name Grace was raised Jewish and met Captain Charlene Radden when she was little before the second war. Her father trained both her and her two brothers for such a time as WWII. Now, years later, Major Charlene Radden welcomes all of them utilizing the trainings from their father. Ruth was assigned to the Heavenly Virtues, a team of 7 women who prayed together, studied the word of God, and trained to help in the war. Grace who was always treated as an equal by her dearly departed father could not understand the sexism and treatment she received by her fellow male counterparts when it came to training. She had to learn to be twice as good as the men in order to succeed.  Grace knew that God had prepared her for such a time as this to perform her specific task to help save as many lives as possible from the atrocities. In doing so she herself got hurt in the line of fire. The Author developed Grace well. Throu...

Charity's Code by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
In book 3 of the Virtues and Valor series Dorothy Ewing code name Charity is a character you cannot help but fall in love with from the start. She was a mother, wife but most of all protector of her family at homer especially when her husband had to go off to war. We see why her name is code named Charity, her generosity to her friend during the bombings at the beginning shows how good of a heart she has. From the prologue you get a sense of why the title of this book is Charity’s Code due to her deciphering the text of a crossword puzzle. Through prayer Dorothy stepped out on faith and accepted a job that would change the course of not just her life but her family as well as she uses the skills, we saw from the prologue to do her part to help. We see Charity go through the emotions of dealing with the war and how it is affecting her family and still have time to give encouragement and a listening ear to her sisters of Virtue. All in all, she keeps her wits about her to do ...

Homeland's Hope by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
Homeland's Hope, Book 2 in the Virtues and Valor series, was very heartfelt and inspiring. An Creole Singer decided to help the cause and give you hope of ever returning to America in order to help her dear France. She tours Nazi Germany as a spy/singer trying to glean information from Schimd and other officers who attend her performances. If you remember Temperance from the previous novella, then you will love how Hope uses her position to help Temperance get free even if it may cost herself. The ending will have you on the edge of your seat, crying, wondering "Did that really just happen?" I truly enjoyed this book. I was given this book by the Author for an HONEST review and I can honestly say before you read this book make sure to have a box of tissues at your disposal!!

A Parcel for Prudence by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
I  read Book 4 in the Virtues and Valor series. I love how the Author interweaves the previous books in with this one yet it can also be considered a stand-a-lone book. Muriel code name Prudence comes from an influential family so it was surprising to see her even participating in the war but thank God for God and the wisdom of her husband who told her to fight the war because she was more than just a pretty face but she has brains too knowing different languages. She is very instrumental by being a Currier for the British operatives on the ground. She proves herself to be more than just a British house wife but a soldier in her own right. I highly recommend this book and the previous books in the series.

Temerance's Trial by Halle Bridgeman

Image
Temperance's Trial is the first book in Hallee's new Virtues and Valor series based on WWII efforts. In the beginning it starts off with Marie and her brother fleeing the Nazis and then it fast forwards to Her learning to be a wireless radio operator. She and the other "operatives" are from different backgrounds but come together to pray. Marie is finally called upon to put her training into action when the last wireless radio operative s captured. I don't want to give a way too much but the ending was shocking! I saw it coming but then again I didn't see it coming. Marie codename was Temperance. I read this book from start to finish not wanting to put it down!! This novella, like her other books, will want you wanting more! I can't wait to read the other novellas in this series!! **I was given this book by the Author for an HONEST review

An Aria For Nick by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
I love how the Author created flashbacks within the story giving you the background of both the main characters in a way that you never got lost. Most Authors set up flashbacks within their storyline that makes it so that you never know when you are back in the present or still in the past. It was great to see some of the characters from A Melody For James make cameos throughout the storyline. You see the relationship not just between nick and Aria but also between nick and his own father begin to heal after years of hurt that went deeper than even the physical pains. Aria a pianist turned nuclear engineer was suppose to be "handled" by Nick but in turn he helps her in away that it could have only been orchestrated by God. So the Question is will past hurts get in the way of doing God's will? Will Aria be able to cope with seeing a man she thought she buried years ago suddenly appearing in her life? All I know is Aria showed her strength even back in High School and...

The Jewel Anthology: Sapphire Ice, Greater Than Rubies, Emerald Fire, Topaz Heat by: Hallee Bridgeman

Image
The Jewel Anthology is a collection of author Halle Bridgeman's Jewel series. The first book in the series, Sapphire Ice, gives the back story about the main characters in the other three books. They all are sisters, with different fathers. They also go through a trauma that carries on into their adulthood. The second book in the series, Greater Than Rubies, is about the eldest sister Robin. I have to say out of all the books her story was the most riveting. She was strong, loving, kind, and most importantly selfless. Meaning she put her sisters above her own needs and wants making sure they are taken care off regardless of the emotional, financial, mental strain it puts on her. We see her strengthen through out the book by the jobs that she holds, and how she stands up for herself even if she could possible lose her source of income. Through it all Robin preserves with God on her side knowing he will carry her through the rough times so that she will finally be filled with Joy. ...

A Melody For James written by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
A Melody for James, what can I say except I truly LOVED this book! After I started reading this book  I could not put it down until the very end.  At first I was like what is going on in the beginning with James wife being killed because like normal people I always read the back cover for a synopsis of what to expect. Then as I was reading I saw how things tied together and how this invisible man was really someone really close to Melody. I also love how she overcame a domestic violence situation and in doing so she used that  to catapult herself into using her God-given gift, which was to sing. Then I admired how even in tragedy James decided to minister to the man that kidnapped his wife.  This particular scene emulates how we are suppose to forgive someone, not for their peace of mind but for our own salvation. Also, this taught me how the true and living God, by using tough situations and events, can use us as a beacon of light to minist...
