Mission of Mercy by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
Book 6 in the Virtues and Valor series chronicles the Journey of Dr. Betty Grimes codenamed Mercy as she becomes a nurse who suffered loss of a loved one that prompted her to do her part to help the war efforts. One-way Mercy worked through her grief was through her work. She truly made a difference looking after he fellow Virtues and Valor making sure they recovered from anything that happened to them during their individual missions. She also made a point to take notes in her mind of how much nurses are undervalued and to hopefully do a book that showcase to other doctors why nurses are important. Overall, after reading Mission of Mercy I got a unique perspective of why Medical personnel are sometimes the unsung heroes of a war. I hope you will enjoy reading this installment in the Virtues and Valor series as I did!

Flight of Faith by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
In the 7 th installment of the Virtues and Valor series we see a somewhat conclusion occur, although later the 8 th installment rounds up this series. We are introduced to Helen Mulberry codenamed Faith who is a young American pilot. She has spunk, a kind heart, and a will that is amazing. Through out her story you see her mature and come into her own. She truly has a heart of gold that makes you fall in love with her character.  Just so you are prepared…you will need a pack of tissues at the ready for Chapter 8. It caught me off guard but in away that was truly needed. A lot that happened in the other novellas(1-6) comes full circle. You will cry tears of joy and sadness then tears of joy again! In the end you see everyone come together, you see identities revealed, who each were before the war began and code names given. Overall, you see Faith truly grow over the course of her story from the Texas Tomboy to a woman who decided to listen to God and follow her true calling in l

Grace's Ground War by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
This is the 5th novella in the Virtues and Valor Series. Ruth code name Grace was raised Jewish and met Captain Charlene Radden when she was little before the second war. Her father trained both her and her two brothers for such a time as WWII. Now, years later, Major Charlene Radden welcomes all of them utilizing the trainings from their father. Ruth was assigned to the Heavenly Virtues, a team of 7 women who prayed together, studied the word of God, and trained to help in the war. Grace who was always treated as an equal by her dearly departed father could not understand the sexism and treatment she received by her fellow male counterparts when it came to training. She had to learn to be twice as good as the men in order to succeed.  Grace knew that God had prepared her for such a time as this to perform her specific task to help save as many lives as possible from the atrocities. In doing so she herself got hurt in the line of fire. The Author developed Grace well. Through o

Meek and Mild (Amish Turns of Time Book 2) by Olivia Newport

I've read a lot of Olivia Newport books but the by far is one of my favorites.. Meek and Mild is a great Amish book that gives you a better insight of how things works and the role their faith plays. Clara Kuhn mother died during child birth with her still-horned sister.Clara loves her cousin's daughter, Sadie, and loves to tell her stories from the Bible. She's just scared that if she has children of her own she will die like her mother did, during child birth. Andrew Raber is loves Clara and would marry her if only she'd say yes. He's not sure that every rule in the Ordnung is biblical, and so he when he sees Model T Ford abandoned on the road he is mesmerized.. He has his own place and he works hard. Fannie is Clara's cousin and she is wishing for another boppli(baby) t although she has Sadie. When her mother becomes pregnant, she takes it hard. Every character mentioned in the book have a need only the Lord can provide an answer to and Olivia&

Petticoat Detective (Undercover Ladies Book 1) by Margaret Brownley

Image
I really enjoyed this novel by Margaret Brownley. Her idea of a " Proverbs 31" woman posing as one of not so reputable ways is a touchy topic but one that Brownley pulls it. Jennifer(detective name Amy) manages to retain her virtue while working on the case assigned to her by Mr. Pinkerton. The moral issues in the book will make you stop and think could this have been someone i know? Each of the women in the bordello has a story and a reason for having to work at the bordello as a last resort will tug at heart and make you cry so make sure to have a box of tissue. The so-called christians(women and men) of the local church go about responding to these women in the wrong manner all except for one woman. There is the issue of the men who visit the house too. When Jennifer sees a revolving door of " good standing " community men in the town frequent the place, it makes her bitter to the idea that there could be any faithful men. Within these serious iss

Sweet Christmas Kisses Anthology

Image
The Sweet Christmas Kisses Anthology is comprised of 14 books. Overall the stories warmed your heart, made you believe in hope, love, and knowing LOVE CONQUERORS ALL, especially during the Holiday season. An Almost Perfect Christmas by Donna Fasano(which is book 1) was so tear-jerking! I had tissues all the way through. Arron has a daughter that is dying but her one wish was to have a "perfect" Christmas so here comes Nurse Christy to assist in making this wish happen. You would think this ends here but little Miss Izzie has ulterior, but pure, motives which is playing matchmaker for her dad and Nurse. All I can say is hold on tight for this heartwarming story that will truly touch your heart and soul. The Army Doctor's Christmas Baby by Helen Scott(which is book 3) was a very interesting read. At first I was a little taken back with Kelly secretly being in love with her commanding MARRIED officer for years. However, be of good cheer because since she is

Crooked Lines by Holly Michael

Image
Crooked Lines was very uplifting!! I especially loved Rebecca's story and how even at a young age she could "discern" certain events not knowing that God has gifted her. Her story is such a powerful one. Without giving anything away.. I loved how we saw her struggle with her parents, family, guilt, and pain but most of all redemption and forgiveness. You see her grow as years, abuse, etc goes on through out her life. It brought her to a certain point where she could use all of that pain to give as a testimony and help someone else by being strong to face even the toughest of deadly storms. I truly hope she continues this story. I would love to see how each character develops more especially the priest and the parents/father of her child. I know after you read this you can say to yourself I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ. Blessings, Prayer Of Hope Disclaimer: I was given this book for an HONEST review by the Author.

Revelation by Doug Couse

Image
Normally I do not read books about supernatural warfare but as I read this book, I was very much captivated and intrigued by how I could relate to most of  the book especially being a Young Adult myself  in School. It reminded me of my favorite suspense writer Frank Peretti. Although this is his first novel I feel as if he has found his niche in the Christian Fiction world and I hope he sticks with it. I really felt as if I was a apart of everything that was going on. I really love the use of technology since I am a Computer Science Major I could really relate to Johnathan and how he is using his gift. I was given this book from the author in exchange for an Honest Review In my honest opinion I believe it is worth reading!

The Jesus Experience: Journey Deeper into the Heart of God by Bill Myers

Image
This is my second time reading a book by Bill Myers. I truly enjoyed reading The Jesus Experience.  As a former missionary in my local church I really connected with what the author was trying to convey. Going the Journey that God is leading us on rather than trying to do everything, for example, making sure the pastor anniversary or church anniversary program is complete and worrying about do we have a Preacher and choir to sing. I loved how it made keeping our relationship with God so simplified.God has a plan for all of us we just need to sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey on which he is guiding us on.. Bill Myers has a way of telling a story which keeps you wanting to learn more. It is a book that has to be shared.. I received this book from Barbour Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

Broken Crayons Still Color: From Our Mess to God's Masterpiece by Shelley Hitz

Image
Broken Crayons Still Color was so inspiring. It really helped me especially to know that yes sometimes you have a lot of burdens and go through trials but God is not through with you yet and that you can use what is going on in your life to glorify God. This study really answered the hopes that God see for us even in our down times. The coloring pages really helped me to "color" my truth and brighten up due to the hope I felt at the end of each lesson. I truly highly recommend this book for those that feel like giving up due to life circumstances know that God can and will still use you.  I was given this book for an honest review by author.

Love's Eternal Breath by Naomi Rawlings

Image
After Reading the 4th installment in the series, Love’s Eternal Breath…all I can say is..bravo. I loved it from beginning to end…The unexpected twists and turns especially when the odds are against Lindy, she thinks she is dying like her mother and she can't trust doctors any more, but she was steadfast, charitable, and just an all around wonderful woman. She overcame so much and was able to take a breath that lasted a lifetime indeed especially with Seth. The town was very interesting. Like any rural area everyone knows everyone and the old time doctor is the one that is trusted. It was the same in the book except the good old doc had a challenger in Seth. I love how God was with both Seth and Lindy helping to guide them on their journey. I love hwo this book showcases Love truly does heal all especially with God in the mix. Thank you Mrs. Rawlings for letting me be a part of your review team for an honest review of your book!!!!!

My Heart Belongs in Ruby City, Idaho: Rebecca's Plight by Susanne Dietze

Image
I truly enjoyed this book. It made me laugh, cry, feel sympathy and truly see how God can work in people lives. Rebecca came to Ruby City to find security and a way to survive. Tad was looking for love. Unfortunately they belonged to someone else but in a mix up they got married. What unfolded later was one of healing, finding oneself, ending a family feud and letting God provide. I truly hope you read this book. from the Gang of Four, to Love being right under their and other noses. Mrs. Dietze truly shows us that God hand is in everything if we only learn to trust him. All in all this book shows that God is our strength and provider... even when it comes to the matters of the heart! The Beloved Christmas Quilt by Wanda E. Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter & Richelle Brunstetter

Image
I was so glad to review this book. I love Wanda Brunstetter and reading the other books written by her daughter and granddaughter was a treat. Luella's Promise by Wanda Brunstetter Luela had a wonderful heart and took great care of her friend Dena and dena son. Before Dena passed she gave her friend a quilt and told her to please take care of her husband and son when she passed. Her husband was over 9yrs older than luela but God worked on his heart while mourning his wife. Luela parents were looking out for their daughter luela but unknowingly made her miserable because of what they thought was best for her. God worked out the situation, softened their heart and showed everyone that life is still worth living even after different problems that arises. Karen's Gift by Jean Brunstetter I loved the story of Karen and how she had a child that had special needs(deaf) and her and her husband had a strain because of it but they learned to work through it. She learned th

Devotions for the Hungry Heart: Chasing Jesus Six Days from Sunday by Shellie Rushing Tomlinson

Image
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6).” This book reminds us that it is not the obtaining and getting that makes us happy, but in the hungering. Tomlinson is very talented at taking bible verses written thousands of years ago and making real life applications for them, with humor and wisdom. Her anecdotes make her very relatable. And the book is indeed for the HUNGRY heart - she has included some of her recipes. I have not made any of the dishes yet, so this review is just for the devotions. I wholeheartedly recommend it, and plan on giving the book as a gift to friends. received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Charity's Code by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
In book 3 of the Virtues and Valor series Dorothy Ewing code name Charity is a character you cannot help but fall in love with from the start. She was a mother, wife but most of all protector of her family at homer especially when her husband had to go off to war. We see why her name is code named Charity, her generosity to her friend during the bombings at the beginning shows how good of a heart she has. From the prologue you get a sense of why the title of this book is Charity’s Code due to her deciphering the text of a crossword puzzle. Through prayer Dorothy stepped out on faith and accepted a job that would change the course of not just her life but her family as well as she uses the skills, we saw from the prologue to do her part to help. We see Charity go through the emotions of dealing with the war and how it is affecting her family and still have time to give encouragement and a listening ear to her sisters of Virtue. All in all, she keeps her wits about her to do

Homeland's Hope by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
Homeland's Hope, Book 2 in the Virtues and Valor series, was very heartfelt and inspiring. An Creole Singer decided to help the cause and give you hope of ever returning to America in order to help her dear France. She tours Nazi Germany as a spy/singer trying to glean information from Schimd and other officers who attend her performances. If you remember Temperance from the previous novella, then you will love how Hope uses her position to help Temperance get free even if it may cost herself. The ending will have you on the edge of your seat, crying, wondering "Did that really just happen?" I truly enjoyed this book. I was given this book by the Author for an HONEST review and I can honestly say before you read this book make sure to have a box of tissues at your disposal!!

A Parcel for Prudence by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
I  read Book 4 in the Virtues and Valor series. I love how the Author interweaves the previous books in with this one yet it can also be considered a stand-a-lone book. Muriel code name Prudence comes from an influential family so it was surprising to see her even participating in the war but thank God for God and the wisdom of her husband who told her to fight the war because she was more than just a pretty face but she has brains too knowing different languages. She is very instrumental by being a Currier for the British operatives on the ground. She proves herself to be more than just a British house wife but a soldier in her own right. I highly recommend this book and the previous books in the series.

Temerance's Trial by Halle Bridgeman

Image
Temperance's Trial is the first book in Hallee's new Virtues and Valor series based on WWII efforts. In the beginning it starts off with Marie and her brother fleeing the Nazis and then it fast forwards to Her learning to be a wireless radio operator. She and the other "operatives" are from different backgrounds but come together to pray. Marie is finally called upon to put her training into action when the last wireless radio operative s captured. I don't want to give a way too much but the ending was shocking! I saw it coming but then again I didn't see it coming. Marie codename was Temperance. I read this book from start to finish not wanting to put it down!! This novella, like her other books, will want you wanting more! I can't wait to read the other novellas in this series!! **I was given this book by the Author for an HONEST review
