My Montana Love: Interview with Gayle M. Irwin

Image
I had the privilege of getting to know Author Gayle M. Irwin as part of Christian Book Academy created by Shelley and CJ Hitz. We were matched as accountability partners. We meet via zoom every 2 weeks or so. Gayle M. Irwin is an award-winning author and freelance writer, being recognized by Wyoming Writers, Inc., and the Wyoming Press Association for several of her works. Gayle is currently re-releasing one of her Pet Rescue Romance stories, My Montana Love. I was able to interview Gayle about her re-released book My Montana Love found below . Litany: Can you tell us a little about yourself? Gayle: I’ve been a writer for more than 30 years, working as a reporter and editor for various newspapers as well as a freelance writer. I became an author in 2007 with the publication of my first book, Sage’s Big Adventure: Living With Blindness. It’s the story of my springer spaniel and her journey as a blind dog, a chapter book for kids (although adults enjoy it as well!) encouraging them

Daring The Unthinkable By Jean L. Kuhnke

Image
Daring the Unthinkable is set in the late 1800s in Montgomery, Missouri. I have read several books by this author and most of the books have been set in some part of Missouri which I have grown to love. This faith-based book takes you on a journey that you never thought you needed.  Daring the Unthinkable is about one woman's selflessness and trust in God. Rachel Atkinson, is a young woman who by society's standards, during this time period, should be married with a house full of children. Instead, she goes on a journey that allows us to see her faith in God and also God's promise to never leave us nor forsake us in action. On this journey, we are introduced to her family, which consists of 4 sisters and her parents; Mr. and Mrs. Payne, a wealthy family who hires Rachel to take care of 2 siblings; and Hal Brevin and his family. Through Rachel's selflessness and trust in God to make a way out of no way, we in turn see how her faith and dependence on God help to bring the

A Harmony for Steve by Hallee Bridgeman

While reading this book the first thing that came to mind was a scripture. That scripture, in my opinion, sums up this whole entire book. That scripture is Ephesians 6: 12 " For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."(KJV). Hallee manifests spiritual warfare into flesh. We see Harmony and Steve have to battle against the spiritual wickedness which is a battle for the ages. Harmony is a Christian artist who crosses over into the Pop. Her family worries that the world will influence her but she stands firm in her belief that God is leading her to sing the songs she sings in the venues she sings them. Steve is a rockstar and the lead singer of a group whose name literally means Hell. You would think they would never cross paths, however, at a benefit concert in California they literally bump into each other backstage. This starts a j

A Carol for Kent by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
Where do I begin? This 3rd book in the Song of Suspense series has taken me on a whirlwind of emotions almost like I am on a never ending roller coaster ride with all the twist and turns! I thought I knew what was happening and then at the end I was like "What?! Oh my gosh I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!" The shock of it all!! I have to say I enjoyed this book tremendously and here is why: **Possible Spoilers** In the beginning we learn about Carol and how she has a daughter named Lisa whose father we later find out is a singer. Carol has an interesting relationship with her child's grandparents, who told her years ago that their son did not want anything to do with the child. This is interesting because later on in the book we discover that they lied, and the reason they lied will make you shed a little tear. Carol is an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for the state of Virginia who tries murder cases. She works closely with the police in order to put criminals away. She

Valor's Vigil by Hallee Bridgeman

This is the 8th and final book the Virtues and Valor series. Although I had a little trouble reading through this book, I did enjoy learning more about the other characters through Valor's point of view and learning more about Valor's family and upbringing.  In this book you get more background on Charlene Radden who we discover is actually married to Leopold Schafer codenamed Valor's father. Their storyline in the prologue was definitely intriguing! Throughout the book you get glimpses of the toll Valor's cover had taken on him. You also see how Valor overcomes those challenges in order to do what needed to be done to assist in ending the war. You also get to know the Virtues better and the men who assisted them during their undercover work. I love how Hallee in the Epilogue gave us a more in depth look at how Temperance was effected during her time as a Prisoner of War. Valor's story put to rest a lot of unanswered questions that may have came to your mind

Mission of Mercy by Hallee Bridgeman

Image
Book 6 in the Virtues and Valor series chronicles the Journey of Dr. Betty Grimes codenamed Mercy as she becomes a nurse who suffered loss of a loved one that prompted her to do her part to help the war efforts. One-way Mercy worked through her grief was through her work. She truly made a difference looking after he fellow Virtues and Valor making sure they recovered from anything that happened to them during their individual missions. She also made a point to take notes in her mind of how much nurses are undervalued and to hopefully do a book that showcase to other doctors why nurses are important. Overall, after reading Mission of Mercy I got a unique perspective of why Medical personnel are sometimes the unsung heroes of a war. I hope you will enjoy reading this installment in the Virtues and Valor series as I did!

Flight of Faith by Hallee Bridgeman

In the 7 th installment of the Virtues and Valor series we see a somewhat conclusion occur, although later the 8 th installment rounds up this series. We are introduced to Helen Mulberry codenamed Faith who is a young American pilot. She has spunk, a kind heart, and a will that is amazing. Through out her story you see her mature and come into her own. She truly has a heart of gold that makes you fall in love with her character.  Just so you are prepared…you will need a pack of tissues at the ready for Chapter 8. It caught me off guard but in away that was truly needed. A lot that happened in the other novellas(1-6) comes full circle. You will cry tears of joy and sadness then tears of joy again! In the end you see everyone come together, you see identities revealed, who each were before the war began and code names given. Overall, you see Faith truly grow over the course of her story from the Texas Tomboy to a woman who decided to listen to God and follow her true calling in l
