Making Love Work by Pat Simmons

As a whole the three novellas had me laughing, sad, teary-eyed and most importantly wanting to read more books by Mrs. Simmons, the author. The three books in the collection were called A Mother's Love,Words Of Love, and Love At Work. Although these are stand alone novellas they are tied together with a "falling in love against the odds" type ribbon. Below I will review each individual book.

A Mother's Love was simply amazing! Although it was about Shana's mother Jillian planning her daughter's wedding, the wedding she herself was never able to have due to the fact she got pregnant at 15 and had Shana at 16 and raised her daughter as a single mother. This book was about so much more. It was about God's redemption, second chances at love, forgiveness and facing a past that you thought you had laid to rest. All in all we follow Jillian's and Shana's journey through the unexpected blessing God has for them whether it be Shana reconnecting with her estranged father and siblings to Jillian forgiving, moving on, and trusting God to provide her the desires of her heart...a wedding of her own.  So sit back, relax, even have a cup of tea as you dive into A Mother's Love.

Words of Love was a breathtaking love story spin on the old timey elementary check yes or no love letter. Do you remember back in the 1990's when pen pals were the rage in school? Where your teacher gave you a name of another student, in another class, at another school and you all communicated via snail mail? well Words of Love is just like that except for Adults. Simone French is a radio talk show host and her first time listener, Rice Taylor, became her pen pal after he heard how she handled one of her callers. A simple letter from him started a correspondence that developed into a romance on paper. How many of you know that when God has something for you he will give it to you whether it's through a phone call, e-mail, or a simple letter? Well Simone and Rice both found out that God had a plan for them even before they met face to face. That plan blossomed even through adversity( Rice's ex) and the ending will have you saying thank you Jesus, although this is fictional characters, I have hope for a love that only you can provide. So pull out your box of tissues and get ready to fall IN LOVE through Words Of Love.

Love At Work made me swell with not only love for God but love that even when we have our guard up God has a  way to break down our defenses in order for us to be a better person in him. This novella was just that, a story about going outside of our comfort zone in order to receive the desires of our heart in the place where we never wanted to find it. Desiree wanted a Christian man but did not want to date a co-worker. Brooke dated a co-worker before and it didn't pan out but he saw the God in him drawn to the God in Desiree. Brooke wanted to approach Desiree differently, so he wrote her letters at work asking her out. Desiree had to overcome her fear of a work related romance in order to allow God to give her the desires of her heart. This novella will have you in tears and praying right along with them asking God to guide them both in the right direction...towards each other. and the ending will have you saying thank you Jesus because they found Love At Work.

I hope this review has been helpful God bless,
